Ronita Sinha is a traveler, recipe experimenter and gardener, tilling her soul for words and images… and  when she cannot help it. she writes.

She holds an M. Phil degree in English Literature from the University of Jadavpur, Calcutta, India.  Her many years of work life, in different countries of the world, have expanded her experience of the human condition.

She started her career, training teachers for elementary school teaching in Calcutta. Later, she taught English to high schoolers  under the British curriculum in Dubai, eventually settling for underwriting, claims analysis, and auditing for a large insurance company in Canada.

Just as a portion of Ronita’s day is reserved for writing so a sizeable portion dedicated to reading. She enjoys writers who keep the human experience at the center of their stories, her favorites being Harukki Murakami, Jhumpa Lahiri, Nadine Gordimer, besides numerous others. Stories where the plot develops through the characters are the ones she finds most appealing.

Ronita believes in prose that is lyrical because the act of reading fiction is first to derive pleasure from the arrangement of words. Of course, without a strong story line no tale can truly come into its own but the way it is told is what remains with the reader long after the book is closed. It is through the narrative style that a simple incident can be turned into a universal event.

She currently resides in Toronto, Canada and enjoys long moments of FaceTime with her four grandchildren who are strewn in different parts of the world. She enjoys her participation in book clubs and discussions involving biblical and spiritual studies.
